From the Director's Desk...

A reminder that the QCC is hiring racing announcers. You'll earn 300 for simply going through the training. We've drawn up a list of expectations, and you can be walked through the whole process by one of the current trainers: Gracie, Des, Madje, or Belle [ saeving grace, theldydes, madje askavinge, or roseofmalice ].

We are now looking to hire a permanent Racing Assistant. This person should be very detail oriented and thorough [access to, and basic experience with Excel, preferred], but the work to be done can be accomplished day or night, within a semi-flexible time frame. Contact Council for more details.

Please get your vet inspections and race entries for the Oct/Nov season in if you have not already. While the deadline is the 22nd, the sooner we have -all- the information in, the sooner racing staff can do the slotting, and prepare the betting for the new season.

An NE Newsletter is being drafted, much like our regular equine newsletter. Though the date is tba, the new lineup is up for your perusal, as is the NE betting office. Any further questions can be directed to our NE Coordinator, Belladonna Maddox [ roseofmalice].

Next update will be
October 1st.

(( rewrites are continuing in the same vein as the racing frameset. Pages will either have the old version linked in for comparison, or changes will be clearly marked and colorized. The color coded corrections will remain for a month, then pages will be re-formatted with only the new information. ))

Greetings, Friends!  Fall is well on its way, if the rain and turning leaves are any indication!  Why not spruce up your shop with seasonal additions in preparation for the upcoming holidays - or have a sale to clear out your spring and summer inventory?  Why not post your sales on the Merchant Announcement section of the QCC Message Boards to let everyone know!  After a bit of discussion with the Council, Shopkeepers who post in the Merchant Announcement section with an ad for sales promotions will now be able to earn 25 qc once per Shop each month!  It's a great way to promote your Shop and get your business noticed!  In addition, members who post their tales and stories (rp-related logs or posts) in the Tavern Tales and Member Stories sections will earn 50 qc (per subject), also!

MERCHANT SPOTLIGHT

Julia:

When Madje arrived , he'd easily find the Telarus Stables that were set before the majestic Cougar Mountains. A sprawling haven for Horses, and livestock, that held many buildings of beautiful Architecture. The Noir livestock  care Company, was clearly a Stand out, with it's gorgeous Statues of Steeds in grazing positions, as they were being lovingly brushed , or cared for by a statuesque owners. Julia waited just outside the arched entry doors, with her eyes looking for Madje's arrival.

QCC:

The Crow was out jaunting about taking in the sights after he'd delivered Kaylee's newly-adopted animals, a bright smile stretched across his youthful features.  There was a visible spring to his step as he approached the stable facilities, thinking back to the day when Holly had been the manager.  Telarus' trainers had always done so well for the horses, and they ran magnificently, so he looked forward to receiving an actual tour and witnessing firsthand what made the racing stable so successful!  He was dressed in his usual casual clothing in shades of oceanic blues and greens, though there were a few embroidered accoutrements to his ensemble to add just a touch of class - one didn't visit royalty wearing grubbies, after-all!  Seeing Julia there, he lifted his hand and cawed his greetings out to her, picking up his feet after staring at the statues and going to meet with her.

"Good afternoon, Julia!!  How do you do!"

Julia:

"Madje! Hello there. Tis good to see you again."

She walked from the cobble stone path out to greet him.. after giving him a welcoming hug, she stepped back and smiled while her hand swept in gesture to the racing Stables in the near distance.

"Welcome to our wonderland" She looked over at Madje and winked. Lets go have a look about shall we? " Wanting to show him around as they did the interview.

"Are you hungry or thirsty at all?" If so, she'd get him food and drink for the tour.

QCC:

"It's good to see you too, Julia!  It's great to be here and finally see your stables, too!  Yes, yes, let's have a grand tour while we chat!"

Wrapping his lanky arms about her shoulders gently, he tried not to rumple her nice clothing or step on the hem of her dress.  The inky black of his eyes danced with flecks of sunset colors the smile on his lips never fading.  He shook his head when she asked if he was hungry or thirsty, tipping a slight bow to her.

"Au, no, thank you so much for asking, though!  I got a bit to eat earlier."

Julia:

She chuckled, Madje was always such a delight. "Very well then, on we go" She walked with him to the Racing Stables, and they'd enter the vera long structure, stepping into it's shade to greet the Racers with in. Stalls were on each side of a pathway through the stables, and as they walked along, several of the Racers came to their stall gates to curiously eye and greet Julia and her guest. Julia would stroke the noses of the racers they'd pass, taking time along the way to give each a treat from her pocket. Various groomsmen and women quietly went about their tasks of the day. At the end of the stall, they'd come back out into the delightful sun raining down over them. A full pasture would be straight ahead, and to the left, the training track. To the right the Training fields.. Obstacle courses, Dressage tracks, Lunging and bathing areas and Fields and pathways for exercising terrain.

QCC:

"Hello, hello," was the chant the various horses would receive from the friendly Crow with a bright smile and an outstretched hand.  When Julia paused to give them treats, he pet their chins and stroked their cheeks gently.  He peered about with just as much curiosity as the horses while they walked, remembering eventually that he was supposed to be interviewing her!

"Au!  I should probably start asking you questions, takka!  All right, so first things first!  What was your motivation behind starting Noir Steed and Livestock Care Products and Feed?  Tell me about your philosophy and the mission statement of your wonderful business!  It must have been quite an undertaking to put it all together!  Where do you get your resources, and what goes into putting it all together?"

Julia:

Chuckles again "Ahh.. sounds good to me Madje.. and " Hearing his question, she answered with a smile. "Tis an easy question my friend. Mine love of Animals, especially my love of Horses.  I wanted a place that was home for them, and a safe place, where they get the best of care.. hence.. " She smiled. "This place."

QCC:

Grinning, well it had been an easy question, after-all!  He chuckled quietly and nodded, sympathizing with her answer and bringing out his scribbled notes - which looked like scratches on a bar napkin.

"It's very nice, I would like living here if I were a horse," staring around at the structure and petting another horse's nose gently, "Can you tell me about the horses that you have for sale?  How do you acquire them, and how do you pick and choose which you'll have for sale?  How much time and dedication is put into their training?  Do you use the products from your own Livestock company to care for them?"

It may have seemed odd that Madje was nibbling on one of the horse cookies, but if it was good for horses...well, then.....

Julia:

"Sure Madje, I'd love to. We have several horses for sale. All of which have been trained on various levels, for various rider needs. We have cart and work horses, and we have companion steeds, we also have war horses, and ranger Steeds, trained to be amazingly incredible Ranger Steeds. We then as well, have our Breed mares, and our Show horses, and our Racers. We train the steeds at every level Madje. Some we bring in as colts from our wild herds, some are bred in, and some I purchase from around the Nations, and some I purchase right close to home. I but Horses with excellent dispositions, good personalities, strong bodies, and intelligent minds. Never just on looks alone. They have to possess several traits before i'll consider the buy. And yes Madje, everything these Steeds and Racers  are cared for with, comes from out Livestock care Products Company. Only the best will do for Telarus Steeds and Racers."

A soft laugh spilled forth as she watched madje eat a horse cookie.

"Those are good!" She'd eaten a few here and there as well, to taste them.

"As far as training, everyday is a training day around here" She smiled and gestured to the Trainers working various horses.

QCC:

Nodding as he took notes, his pen was flying as he mouthed what Julia was saying around the treat and jot it down onto his rumpled bit of paper.  He paused when one of the horses tugged on his sleeve, glancing up with the cookie in his mouth.  Chuckling quietly, he fed it to the bay Arab and moved back alongside Julia with a smile.

"How often do you get new horses in?  What happens to the ones that don't sell after a while?  Illusian is doing very well, by the way!  He makes a wonderful hacking horse," glancing at her with a cheerful smile, Madje thought she'd want to know how he was doing, "So all your stallions get along well with the mares?  And you have a wild herd in Telarus, really?"

He was bouncing on his toes - though he thought maybe he should see that on another day, ahem.  The trainers were watched for a while as he readjusted the scarf over his hair, brushing it back away from his eyes to keep the beads off his cheek.

"There must be so many employed to oversee the training of so many horses!  How many people do you have working here on a daily basis?"

Julia:

She watched him with the Bay, with a smile. "Aww She loves when people share their treats" Soft laugh. . And then when she heard his words, her eyes would seem to twinkle. It was good knowing how Illusion was faring for Madje.

"Aww good.. I'm so thrilled to hear that. And..I've never had a steed that didn't sell Madje. "She returned his smile with one of her own.

"Aye, our Stallions do get along with the Mares.. we make sure of this, by introducing them, then letting them have at least 24 hours together in the pasture, so we can see how well, or how well not, they get along. And if they get along, then we bring them in, and wait another 24 hours, and then put them together. We have a marvelous staff here Madje. Each one is a vera experienced Animal care expert, with extensive training knowledge. The Master trainer is Nicolette. She came to us from Paris when Holiday Left on her journey. " She smiled again watching him.

"We have 38 trainers, and at least double that for Grooms, and then stable hands.  It was the best blessing when we hired Nicolette Pierre, a Master trainer of world renound race horses, as Master Trainer of the Telarus Racing Team. She's been fabulous!"

QCC:

"Auuuu," nodding as he took more notes and glancing out to see if he could see if he could glimpse any of the horses out in pasture.  Madje was alert and perky, cocking his head this way and that as they went along at every new thing he saw with his bright smile.  Somehow he'd gotten a hold of a carrot and was munching on that next, tipping his head with interest when he heard of a master trainer.

"Au, how did you come across Ms. Pierre?  Is she one of your citizens here in Telarus?  Thirty-eight is quite impressive!  How many horses do you actually have on the facility? Do you ever have young horses for sale who aren't broken in?  Au - and do you do breedings with your race horses to your stock?"

Julia:

She came to us actually. Looking for work, after she left paris. Her husband was killed in the raids, and she could no longer bear to stay there. She'd somehow heard of my stables, and that Holiday had retired. I'd heard of her as well, and when she came, things fell right into place. And Aye, she is indeed a Citizen. { Telarus Stables Steeds for Sale } We have 40 Sale steeds and 14 new being trained on various levels, 15 racers, with 4 more in training, and Aye Madje. I do sell horses that are nae yet broke, but only to someone who is tremendously knowledgeable and experienced. We have babies in each Spring for sale, and aye, we have several wild herds in Telarus. They are protected by Queens law, so their numbers grow each year under the protection of Queens law."

She handed him a bag of honey treats.

    "You'll love these."

She blinked a wink as a smile formed.  Whinnies and snorts filled the background, as the horses and racers were sensing their dinner time nearing. A chuckle expelled as Julia's eyes glanced about, to the animals doing the chattering.

"I shant keep you any longer Madje, I've taken way to much of your time as it is."

QCC:

    "Thank you!"

Julia didn't have to tell *him* twice!  Free food was always welcomed where the Crow was concerned!!  Dipping his hand into the bag of treats, he crunched on them while trying not to look too surprised when he heard how many horses were for sale!

"That's amazing, I'm so glad that you have such great and well-qualified help for your stables!  I'm glad that they're protected, it sounds like a good law to have - au, but I shouldn't keep you much longer either!"

Tipping forward in a slight bow, he smiled and reached out to hug her again gently, "Thank you so much for having me over!  I really appreciate the time you spent with me, and I'm sure all the members will look forward to hearing about your wonderful stables!  Please have a wonderful rest of the day, and I'll see you again soon!"

He took his leave after Julia had shone him out, waving to her as he trotted back down the path toward the port once more!  It was always so wonderful visiting stables - he thought he should have more tours in the future!

This mailing list is made up of QCC members who have consented to be on it. The purpose of this list is to allow business announcements and flyers to be sent to those groups and individuals that welcome the information and intend to distribute it to their members. This mailing list does not replace any mailing lists compiled by individual businesses or event hosts from their own patrons and customers.
