HOSTING A MARKET
Thank you for offering to host a Quest Coin Coalition Market! The FAQ's have been complied to assist you in getting started!
What are the responsibilities of a market host?
1. Provide a safe facility where merchants and shoppers can interact. (Open a AOL/AIM room with an appropriate market name. An AIM room will allow those who have AIM names to join in, as they cannot get into AOL-only rooms. To provide a link to the room, simply Favorite Place your room, open your Favorite Places and select it, then click Edit. Copy and paste the Internet Address into the email, and you're set!) If you don't prefer to host the market in your own lands, feel free to use the generic QCC Marketplace (AIM Room Link: qccmarketplace, URL: aol://2719:10-4-qccmarketplace )
2. Provide the council with an attendance list of the houses and individual members who were represented at the event as well as a log quickly after the market within a few days time after the market. A list of merchants who attended for half an hour must also be included so the Council can include them for attendance, as each individual receives a vendor bonus of 100 QC for selling their wares.
It's as simple as that!
What if I want to make the market more than just a market?
That would be wonderful! Most of our market hosts have chosen to enhance the market experience by planning a theme, and through the use of raffles, contests, games, and races, can earn extra QC! Some hosts have chosen to blend the market night into a week long event such as Nouvelle Aube's Beltane in April/May or House N'Alsia's Gryphon Tournament in October. The market and theme can be as simple or elaborate as your time will allow. Some members even opt to throw together a special website or webpage to provide a more detailed description of their market's surroundings or raffle, contest, games, race rules, etcetera for others to view, but by no means is this required.
Feel free to solicit donations of merchandise or gift certificates from QCC merchants to use as prizes for your market. You will find them amazingly generous!
How do I advertise my market?
There are a number of ways we can advertise your market. Try to choose your date and time as early as possible and let the Council know. Your market particulars will appear in the monthly update that is published to members from the month end you provide this information until the market date is passed. It will also appear in the Markets section of the Newsletter, and on the Event Calendar at the QCC web site. In addition to that, you are encouraged to send out your own mailing (limit of two: one mailing to announce the market and one reminder closer to the market) announcing the market using the voluntary members mailstring.
How do merchants advertise for my market?
The QCC has provided a Marketplace Announcements section at their web site which is a place for merchants to post advertisements for upcoming markets. We request that you provide a link (http://questcoin.com/Forums/QCC/index.php?board=13.0) to this facility in your market write ups (email and web pages) and encourage merchants as well as shoppers to visit the Marketplace Announcements. If you wish, you can also provide a list of attending merchants on your market write ups (email and web pages), or put together a compiled flyer (a website page featuring links to the various merchants attending) to be passed out during the market; however, this is entirely at your discretion.
Will we receive compensation for our work for the market?
Market hosts receive 500 QC for hosting the Market - this includes 300 QC for market attendance. If you wish to turn your market into a full-blown QCC Event, please speak with the Council to see if additional QC's can be provided for prizes or awards!
