What is a Market?
A Market is a place for buyers and sellers to get together at a specified time and place, so commerce may take place. It can also be more than that, a celebration or a festival for example, depending on the Market Host.
How do I become a Market host?
Contact Des Sunhaven-Hayll and express your interest.
What does hosting a Market entail?
The basic duties are to determine the date, time and location of the market, and publicize that information to the Houses and Independents of the QCC. The Host is also required to attend the Market and present a report to Des , listing the individuals that attended and the Houses they represented. Anything beyond those stated responsibilities is totally up to Market Host.
How do I get merchants to come to my Market?
In some ways this becomes the basis of a successful market, and Hosts have come up with a variety of methods to encourage merchant participation. Some of these include offering advertising, holding lotteries and raffles. Advance notice of the Market is important, as is reminders. Specific Merchant addressed invitations can help too.
Can I use the Classifieds as my Merchant ads listing for my Market?
You can encourage Merchants to use the Classifieds to advertise for your Market, or you may create your own advertising flyer <web page>. You can also chose not to offer or encourage advertising if you wish, but many Merchants do expect it.
There is a Market scheduled, but I didn't receive a call for merchants.
How do I get invited to be a Market merchant? It is extremely rare that there would be a Market where all Merchants would not be invited and encouraged to attend. Some Hosts however, do not send a specific invitation to the Merchants, the announcement of the location date and time of the Market is viewed as sufficient. If you have questions about attending as a merchant, contact Des.
How do I get a booth at the Market?
Usually that's the simpliest part. Simply show up at the Market
and set up in one of the countless booths available. If you have
any questions you can contact the Market Host or
Des.
